It's feeling alot like Christmas...

What a fun week we had this past week.  After Thanksgiving the kids get so very excited about SANTA COMING!!! One of my sweet co-worker has a wonderful dad who dresses up like Santa every year and comes and meets the kids.  They get to sit in his lap and tell him what they want for Christmas! {so fun}  In preparation for Santa coming, we had to get ready ourselves!!

First, we made "Subtraction Christmas Stories".  We started off us the trees and ornaments as math mats.  The students had to choose any number of ornaments to put on their tree.  We acted our senarios, such as, "I put ___ ornaments on my Christmas tree"  All of them would put their paper ornaments on their trees.  Then, "____ ornaments fell off"  They would pull the ornaments to the bottom of the tree.  "How many ornaments are still left on the tree?" They created a number sentence that matched.  After lots of practice they got to glue them on and record our stories.  They did such a great job!

{All of our fabulous trees, plus our super cute Grinch's from pinterest}

As you know from my previous post, I love The First Grade Parade.  We HAD to make those adorable elves and elf applications after reading How Santa Got His Job.  Love all of her cute ideas!!!
SOOOO incredibly CUTE!!!

Can't wait for even more Christmas activities to come!! Christmas around the world starts next week!!
